Egypt is near the top of the list

I got my passport in 1997 for my first trip out of the country to Israel and Egypt. It's really interesting to be back nearly ten years later after seeing so much of the world since. The Middle East is an incredible place to visit and it should really be at the top of your list. It's hard to explain, but there are just some places that overflow with a distinct cultural flavor all it's own, and this is definitely one of them. The sights, the smells, the people, the food; they are all so unique, which makes a place particularly noteable.

Today was a long one. We left the hotel at 8:30am and at nearly midnight I am just headed back to the hotel. We drove three hours to Alexandria, passing right by the pyramids. It was so surreal to see them suddenly appear in between the buildings as we drove by.

Alexandria is on the sea and absolutely beautiful, and we had another long memorable lunch on the shore at the Fish Market (the same place we ate at yesterday, only the fish was even fresher).
We did not get back to Cairo until almost 9 and had yet another incredible and memorable meal, just relaxing and trying all the mezzas (appetizers) and more shisha. My lungs have had enough. The food here is sooo good.

Come soon!
